Under the Knife or In Front of the Lens

I am +Teresa Elwartowski , I own  +SkyeWorks Photography  and am Co-Owner of +Blue Moon Photography  with +Bill Reed , of William Reed Photography. In order to fully understand what that feels like we have to know the other side of the lens. Like a surgeon that goes under the knife and will only let those he is most confident in operate on him, I will go in front of the lens; leaving my ego in the hands of my trusted partner and beauty expert.

So, what girl doesn't want to feel like a princess? I believe girls have an innate desire to feel like the most beautiful woman on earth. I'm not one for fancy frills and girly stuff and I even have a hatred for all things “hallmark”; but once a year I go all out. This year I stepped from behind my 'safety net' and in front of the camera. Though it was scary and unnatural and I protested, deep down I think I secretly desired to be the one presented beautifully rather than being to one who shows other ladies' inner beauty show through the lens.
The day started with makeup. Our beauty artist is a talented young lady, originally from a high end salon, that has traveled the world while applying her skills. As she unpacked her makeup I became nervous; stating that to her, she looked at me with confidence, saying that there wasn't any reason to be nervous at all and as she began to style my hair started to tell about her travels. I was immersed by her stories and forgot that I was being fussed over. Before long I was presented and sent out into the world as a girl ready to be photographed.

As previously discussed, Bill and I went to the Greenway Farms where there is a variety of scenery that is perfect for creating a variety of scenes. So it began, how did I feel, what was my experience? It's best if I tell it in pictures.
Pretty typical poses, a little warm up in front of the camera.

Then we got into the harder stuff, making the most flattering poses and positioning. Take a look at this one, looks good right?
I love the flattering shaping, despite my poor choice in in ruffling! But wow, would you know how weird and awkward I felt? “Shoulder forward, rotate, hand on your hip, chin out, toward me”; the advantage I had was that we've done the same workshops so I knew that as awkward as the pose felt it was gonna look good as the a final thing.
Time for a breather, deep breath and relax.

Back to work, this time a little more relaxed posing.
Outfit change, and Bill catches me
goofing off and playing little Ms mischievous!
Last shot before we change location.
And the contrasting softness here

Though I'm not fond of fuller length shots,
I kinda love the capturing of attitude here.

Now, if I had to narrow it done to just 5, these are the ones I would pick:

This was quite the experience, and though I'm extra critical of the subject, even I have to admit that they turned out pretty great. Of course non of these photos have even beeen through the post processing or special edits... that's a whole new blog entry! I can't wait to show the final products!
